Cancun Vacations and Hurricane Season

Hurricane season is now underway. What affect does that have on your summer travel plans?

June 1st is the official start date of hurricane season. Here we are, officially in hurricane season, but what does that mean to you as a traveler?

The good thing about hurricanes is that they don’t just drop out of the sky unannounced. There is generally a 3 or 4 day warning period to prepare for it to hit or, in many cases, veer off or loose strength before it makes landfall. This gives everyone a chance to cut their vacation short if they choose to vacate, or get prepared to hunker down and weather the storm.

The best thing about beach towns, Cancun and Playa del Carmen are perfect examples, is that they are experienced in dealing with hurricanes and know exactly what to do. They have made it through many storms and have continued to grow and thrive.

If you are planning a vacation to the Riviera Maya during hurricane season there are a few simple things you can do to prepare yourself, just in case your vacation takes a slight weather detour.
